Overview
About hygienic fittings
Sanitary (hygienic) fittings carry product in food, dairy, beverage and pharmaceutical plants, where lines are cleaned in place and must leave nowhere for product or bacteria to collect. They are made from thin-wall stainless tube with smooth, crevice-free bores, and joined by clamps or unions that can be opened without cutting the line.
Three connection systems are supplied. Tri-clamp fittings to ISO 2853 / 3-A join two ferrules with a hinged clamp over a gasket. DIN 11851 threaded unions are common in European dairy and brewing plants, and SMS 1145 unions are the Scandinavian dairy standard.
Fittings are made in 304 and 316L stainless steel, with 316L preferred for product contact and where chlorides are present. Bends, tees, reducers, ferrules, clamps and unions are listed with their dimensions in the tables below.
