The requirement
What fine chemical demand of a fitting
Batch and speciality chemical manufacturing puts a wider variety of media through a given line than continuous process plant does. Material selection has to be made against the most aggressive service the line will see, including cleaning and changeover chemistry, not against the nominal product.
Stainless covers a great deal of this scope. Where chlorides, acids or elevated temperature combine, duplex and super duplex extend the service life enough to justify the material cost, usually decided on pitting resistance rather than strength.
Reactor and vessel connections, sampling points and instrument hookups make up a large share of the fitting count, which is why forged Class 3000 and 6000 fittings feature heavily alongside the buttweld scope.
IllustrationWhere these components sit
- Reactor feed, discharge and recirculation lines
- Solvent and acid transfer circuits
- Sampling points and instrument connections
- Heat transfer, jacket and utility circuits
- Vent, scrubber and effluent lines
Specification points that matter here
- Select material against the most aggressive service including cleaning chemistry
- Duplex or super duplex where chlorides and temperature combine
- Forged Class 3000 / 6000 for small-bore reactor and instrument connections
- Spectacle blinds and paddle blinds for positive isolation during changeover
- Confirm gasket and sealing face requirements alongside the fitting specification
Ranges for this sector
What we supply into it
The categories most often specified for this service. Every one carries the full range behind it.
- Buttweld FittingsButtweld elbows, bends, tees, reducers and caps welded end to end with the pipe, for a joint as strong as the pipe itself and a smooth, leak-free bore.View 14 products
- Forged FittingsSocket weld and threaded fittings machined from solid forgings, for strong, compact joints on small-bore, high-pressure lines such as drains, vents and gauge points.View 15 products
- FlangesFlanges that make a bolted, gasketed joint at equipment, valves and spool breaks, so a line can be opened again for isolation, inspection or replacement.View 22 products
