About spool
A piping spool is a length of piping prefabricated in the shop (pipe, fittings and flanges welded together to the isometric drawing) and delivered ready to bolt into place on site.
Fabricating in the shop moves welding out of the plant. Site work and shutdown windows shrink, and each joint is made and inspected under controlled conditions rather than at height or in a congested pipe rack.
Spools are built from the same buttweld fittings, forged fittings and flanges listed on this site. Send the isometric or arrangement drawing with the material specification, test requirements and documentation needed, and the spools are quoted against it.
