Overview
Product overview
Our range includes both ‘Long Radius’ (LR) and ‘Short Radius’ (SR) variants to cater to diverse industrial needs.
Long Radius 45 Degree Elbows boast larger radii, promoting seamless material flow and reducing turbulence and pressure drops. Available in diameters ranging from 1/2″ to 72″ with varying wall thicknesses from Schedule 10 to Schedule XXS, they’re ideal for applications prioritizing fluid dynamics.
Short Radius 45 Degree Elbows offer more compact solutions, making them perfect for space-constrained environments without sacrificing performance. With diameters from 1/2″ to 48″ and wall thickness options from Schedule 10 to Schedule XXS, they ensure efficient directional shifts.
Benefit from our commitment to quality, reliability, and prompt delivery.
What is a Buttweld 45 Degree Elbow?
A Buttweld 45 Degree Elbow is a precision component in piping systems, allowing smooth directional changes with minimal turbulence. Crafted from durable materials like stainless steel, it ensures leak-free connections and optimal flow.

Technical notes
How the component behaves in the line, and the details to settle before an order is placed.
How it behaves in the line
- Centre-to-end dimension (A) is shorter than 90° elbow for the same radius
- Pressure drop coefficient K is approximately half that of a 90° LR elbow
- Two 45° elbows in series can replace one 90° elbow to reduce turbulence
- Available in same radius and schedule range as 90° elbow
Confirm when ordering
- Verify angle accuracy: some suppliers use 44° or 46° tolerance
- Confirm the radius (1.25D mild steel vs 1.5D LR) matches the rest of the system
Dimensions, wall thicknesses and pressure classes are in the dimension tables; the governing standards are summarised on the standards reference.
